The Museum of the Fur Trade is much more than just another history museum - it is a step back in time. Located three miles east of Chadron, Nebraska, the museum includes over 6,000 artifacts to illustrate daily life in early America for fur traders and Native Americans.

Our museum is conveniently located three miles east of Chadron, Nebraska, which once was the homeland of Crazy Horse, Spotted Tail and Red Cloud. Sitting on the route to Yellowstone National Park, and only 60 miles south of the Black Hills, Museum of the Fur Trade is centrally located to allow for an easy stop during your next vacation.

 

Unlike many other museums, photography is allowed at the Museum of the Fur Trade, so remember to bring your camera along!

Hours of Operation:

  • May 1 – October 31: Daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • November 1 – April 30: By appointment only
